DIY 3D Tank Background

Make a 3-dimensional background for your aquarium or vivarium! Cut a piece of Styrofoam to the size of your tank wall, cut various shapes of Styrofoam to attach to the background and use aquarium silicone to attach all the pieces of Styrofoam to the Styrofoam board. Once dry, use a lighter to heat the Styrofoam to create a textured surface. Cover the entire aquarium background with several layers of cement, sandpaper the cement smooth and coat the entire tank background with epoxy resin. Lay the tank on it’s side and use aquarium silicone to glue the background into your tank. Soak the background in water, refreshing daily for about a week before introducing plants and pets into the tank.
