DIY Bat House

Build a safe house for your neighborhood bats! Cut a large rectangle of plywood for the backboard, a square for the front board and two thin wood boards. Cut grooves across the surfaces of each piece of wood that will face the inside of the bat house, stain all sides of the wood and cover the wood with sealant. Attach three wood beams in a U-shape around the frame of the house, attach the square and one small beam across the front of the bat house frame and attach the last wood beam at an angle for the roof. Decorate the bat house and mount the bat house on a tree, pole or wall facing southeast.
