DIY Household Items Scratching Post

Construct a scratching post for your cat out of random household objects! Find or cut a wood board for the platform base. Stack baseball cards to make the post or use pieces of corrugated cardboard, a table leg or a firewood log and glue or drill the post onto the wood board. Cut a piece of carpeting to cover the platform, cut out a hole for the post and glue the carpeting onto the platform. Cut a denim pant leg to slightly longer than the post and glue the fabric onto the post. Glue the handle of a hanger between the stacks of baseball cards or drill a slit into the top of the post to hold the hanger. Use pieces of string or twine to hang toys from the homemade scratching post, such as a Christmas stocking, sock, stuffed animal or wad of paper.
