DIY Saddle Pad
Sew a saddle pad for your horse! Fold an old saddle pad in half, smooth or iron any creases, and trace around the edge of the folded saddle pad onto a piece of newspaper or fabric sheet. Cut out the shape and use the tracing to cut out matching pieces for the top, bottom and batting of the saddle pad. Sew a piece of nylon webbing along the fold edge of the top and bottom pieces, place the saddle pad pieces together with the batting in the middle and sew the fabric edges shut. Place the homemade saddle pad on your horse, pin pieces of nylon webbing in place for the billet and girth straps in the ideal locations, remove the saddle pad from the horse and sew the straps in place. Decorate your saddle pad with quilted stitching, a label, or binding, bias tape or decorative cord along the edge.
