DIY Scary Object Horse Training

Teach your horse or pony to accept and jump scary objects! Gather everyday objects, such as flowerpots, chairs, a tarp or blanket, a Christmas tree or a bag of trash. Place your horse on a lead and run towards the object with your horse to see if they will jump over the object. If your horse refuses to jump over the object, bring your horse slowly toward the object and show your horse that the object is safe to touch. Consider giving your pet a treat or pat whenever they are near the object for positive reinforcement. Allow your horse to sniff and investigate the object, walk with your horse over the object and then attempt to jump the object again.
