DIY Chinchilla Health Monitoring

Give your chinchilla regular health checks! Place a kitchen scale in your chinchilla’s play area, turn on the scale, pour dust into the scale bowl and note the weight of the dust. Coax your chinchilla into the bowl with a treat if needed, subtract the weight of the dust from the total weight and write the weight of your chinchilla in a notebook. Check your chinchilla’s weight each month and look for unusual weight fluctuations other than the normal summer weight loss and winter weight gain. Note any changes of diet or stressful situations that occur in the notebook as well and bring the notebook to any veterinary visits.
