DIY Basket Birdhouse

Turn a basket into a home for some birds! Get a basket made from a soft material. Cut a hole in the side of the basket near the top for a doorway and poke a small hole on either side of the basket. Get an item to cover the top of the basket that extends over the doorway slightly to create an awning, such as a straw hat or another basket that has a different shape, and poke a small hole on either side of the roof item if needed. Cut a long piece of floral wire, thread one side through a hole in the side of the basket, then up through a hole in the side of the roof. Repeat the process with the other end of the wire on the other side of the house and twist the ends of the wire together to make a loop. Put cedar chips into the birdhouse for nesting material and hang the birdhouse in a tree or on a porch.
