DIY Coconut Food Bowl

Make your bird a natural food bowl! Find the three holes on the top of the coconut, poke each hole with a screwdriver to find the hole that is the softest, then use a hammer to tap the screwdriver through the hole and into the coconut. Drain the coconut water through the hole. Find the natural line around the center of the coconut and hit the line with the back of a large knife to crack the coconut in half. Scoop out the coconut meat and set the coconut halves with the open side down in a ventilated area for several days. Drill a hole at three equal points around one coconut half, knot a string through each hole, and tie the strings together at the top. Thread matching heavy beads onto strings and tie the beaded strings onto each of the strings holding the bowl to help keep the bowl steady. Hang the bowl near a perch in your bird’s cage and put birdseed or other treats inside.
