DIY Goat Hoof Trimming

Keep your goat’s hooves trimmed! Check your goat’s back hooves to determine when your goat needs their hooves trimmed. Place your goat on it’s milking stand, wash the hooves with soapy water and scrub the hooves if needed. Use a hoof pick or the edge of the trimmers to clean any dirt out of your goat’s hoof. Use the trimmers to clip the edges of the hoof to be flat with the center of the hoof and trim the center of the hoof flat if needed. Remove any dirty pockets in the hoof and trim any places where the hoof wall is splitting away from the hoof. Be careful to stop trimming if you see any pink and look for any signs of hoof rot as you trim.
