DIY Vine Climbing Background

Make a background for your hermit crab’s tank that they can easily climb! Measure your tank and cut a piece of foam board to the size needed. Cut pieces of PVC pipe in half lengthwise, then cut the base into strips, heat the strips so they can be bent to look like tree roots, and shave the top of the pipes to look like bark. Cut pieces of rope for the vines, cover the ropes and PVC tree roots with silicone, then roll them in peat moss. Cover the foam board with expanding foam, then press the PVC tree roots and rope vines into the expanding foam. Once dry, carve the expanding foam to create a more natural texture, then cover the foam with silicone and peat moss. Glue pieces of moss and any other decorations onto the background, then let it air out before putting it in your pet’s tank.
