DIY Tube Nest

Make a cozy sleep spot for your chinchilla! Get a tube that is the ideal size for your chinchilla. Drill holes through the PVC or cardboard tube where it will connect to the cage. Cut a square of fleece that can wrap around the tube in both directions and completely cover it with a slight overlap, fold the square in half, and sew the long edges together to create a fabric tube. Fold the tube inside-out so the seam is on the inside, put the cardboard tube inside the fabric tube, and cut holes in the fabric tube at the locations for the bolts. Put the bolts in place, fold the fabric into the tube, then fold it back over the other end and make another hole in the overlapping fabric for the bolt. Tuck Velcro fasteners under the edge of the overlapping fabric to hold it in place, and attach the nest to the wall of your pet’s cage.
