Paper Container Bird Nest

A paper container can quickly become a nest for your dove or other small bird! Draw a line around the top of a raisin or oatmeal container, cut off the top of the container along the line and fringe the removed ring of cardboard. Draw a line around the bottom of the container, cut off the front of the container along the line and glue or tape the fringed ring of cardboard into the nest area with the top rim resting along the edge of the nest box. Fold a paper towel into quarters, fold in each corner of the towel to make an octagon and press the towel into the nest box. Cut index cards into thin strips, partially fill the nest box with the nesting material and toss the remaining nesting material on the cage floor for your bird to forage. Poke two holes in the backboard of the nest box and use zip ties or twist ties to hang the nest box just below a perch in your bird’s cage.
