DIY Aquarium Filter

Make your own aquarium filter! Cut a plastic 2-liter bottle in half and cut out a V-shapes around the cut edge of the bottle top. Place the bottle top inside an ice cream bucket or large Tupperware bowl, cut a hole in the top of the bucket for the bottle spout and feed a piece of flexible tubing through the bottle spout. Cut a hole near the bottom of the bucket, attach a solid pipe connector in the hole and attach a flexible pipe to the connector. Fill the bucket with gravel, carbon or sponge and attach an air pump to the tube inside the plastic bottle for increased flow in larger tanks. Place the end of the intake hose in the water and hang the output hose above the waterline.
