DIY Cat Mermaid Costume

Dress your cat as a mermaid for Halloween! Find fabric with a pattern that looks like fish scales or draw fish scales onto green fabric. Cut the fabric into the shape of the upper tail area, cut a piece of stretchy sequined material to the length needed to wrap around your cat’s belly comfortably, and attach the top of the tail onto the sequin band. Cut a piece of craft foam for the base of the tail, cut two pieces of shiny green fabric to cover the tail, and sew the edges of the two pieces together to create a case for the foam, then attach the base of the tail onto the top of the tail. Cut an elastic headband to fit on your cat’s head, glue pieces of faux hair onto the headband, then glue silk flowers across the top. Cut another piece of the sequin band to wrap around your cat’s chest, glue seashells onto the front of the band, and attach Velcro fasteners onto the ends of both sequin bands.
