DIY Cat Paw Shake Training

Teach your cat to shake your hand! Hold several treats in your hand, show your cat the treats and let them smell the treats. Hold out your other hand to your cat just above your cat’s head with your palm facing upwards and your hand slightly cupped. Say a command, such as “Shake” or “Paw,” wait for your cat to reach for your hand with their paw, then praise them and give them a treat. If needed, gently raise your cat’s paw to your hand yourself, then give them the treat to eat out of your open hand. Repeat the training until your cat recognizes the command and shakes your hand.
