DIY Octopus Obstacle Course

Enrich your octopus’s environment and intellect with an obstacle course maze! Find a thin, wide plastic storage bin and use aquarium silicone to install plastic grates as shelves. Cut holes in opposing sides of the shelves for your octopus to travel through and cut holes in the sides of the bin for maze entrances. Cut off the bottom of a large plastic jar, sand the edge of the jar smooth and glue the jar into one entrance hole so the lid can be removed or capped for use as a maze finish chamber. Attach a PVC pipe in the other entrance hole and add agility equipment to the shelves, such as an A-frame jump, shower curtain rings as monkey bars and a plastic bottle or jar with the top and bottom cut off as a hoop jump. Leave both ends of the maze open for your octopus to use the maze for athletics and enrichment between feedings or place treats for your octopus in the finish chamber and cap the exit.
