DIY Sock-Filter Gravel Vacuum

Clean the gravel in your aquarium without dumping the entire tank! Attach a plastic tube on the input and output valve of an aquarium pump. Connect the input tube to the hose of a gravel vacuum with a tube adapter or by fitting the two tubes together. Cut a piece of mesh to fit inside the cap of the gravel vacuum. Get a sock that is made of a tightly woven fabric, rinse the sock well to clean off any detergent residue, and use a rubber band to attach the sock on the outlet tube. Hold the input tube in the water to remove any air before submerging the pump, and keep a bucket with some water nearby to rinse the gravel vacuum as needed.
