DIY Heated Tortoise House

Make a heated home to keep your outdoor tortoise warm! Select a small shed that will easily accommodate your tortoise and cut out a hole for the doorway. Cut a piece of plastic carpet protector to fit over the doorway, cut slits into the protector to make fringe and attach the protector over the doorway. Fill any open gaps with foam insulation and line the inside walls with pieces of reflective insulation. Cut a hole in the back of the house near the top, attach a PVC connector on the outside of the hole and attach a PVC pipe that is long enough to reach the ground into the PVC connector. Attach a lamp to the ceiling of the house and run the plug out the hole and through the PVC pipe. Wire the lamp to a thermostat for automatic heat regulation and bring your tortoise indoor if the temperature drops below freezing.
