DIY Aquarium Moving Bed Filter

Keep your aquarium clean and reduce ammonia spikes with a homemade moving bed filter! Find a plastic bottle that will fit well in your aquarium, drill several holes across the back of the bottle and push the backs of suction cups into the holes. Drill half a dozen holes across the top edge of the front of the bottle, poke lots of small holes around the bottle’s spout and drill a hole in the bottle cap. Place an airline tube through the hole in the cap and put an air stone on the end of the tube or use aquarium silicone to glue the tube to the cap. Partially fill the bottle with small pieces of plastic and consider attaching an under-gravel filter to the bottle cap.
