DIY Bearded Dragon Sexing

Determine the sex of your bearded dragon! Put your bearded dragon in a comfortable, safe place where it cannot fall if it tries to run away while the light is off. Hold up your dragon’s tail and shine a flashlight over the base of the tail. Have someone turn off the light in the room. Look for the long, oval-shaped testes extending up into the tail area to determine if your pet is male, or the lack of testes to determine if your pet is female.
