DIY Play Dead Bird Trick

Teach your bird to play dead! Get comfortable with training your bird other tricks and handling your bird before teaching them this trick. Start by getting your bird comfortable with laying on their side or back and gently move your bird onto it’s back, then give your bird a treat as a reward. Once your bird has mastered laying still on it’s back, continue the trick, holding your hand in a gun-like position and have your bird set one foot on the gun barrel as you move it over onto its back. Once your bird is familiar with that movement, begin removing your hand more each time and only performing the motion instead. Continue rewarding your bird each time the desired action is completed. Add a vocal cue to the trick, such as “bang” or “pow” and ask your bird to be still for a longer amount of time until they can complete the trick.
